I founded Av Elva Sol in 2009, when I was commissioned to create a custom home in Carmel, California. The name, Av Elva Sol, comes from the Norse phrase, "By River Sun", a nod to my Nordic background and my abiding appreciation of natural light and how it guides my design. 

University of  California studies in geology & environmental science, art history & design, established a foundation of diverse knowledge to draw upon. Educated in material characteristics and experienced in construction, I judiciously balance appearance & function. I channel my wide-ranging interests and deep love of coastal living into genuine dedication to original design. 

Now based in Chatham, Cape Cod, I love coalescing my light & bright California aesthetic with East Coast traditions. My husband Jon, Cape Cod native and founder of Buck Construction, is my partner in construction. 

Av Elva Sol philosophy is rooted in the desire to mingle seemingly disparate elements of our world, to achieve a tranquil shelter that draws upon the meaningful experiences of the inhabitants- to create a living home.

My craft is to create a space where you feel naturally comfortable, at ease, at home.
